"Muskrat" Ron's Homebrew

muskrat.jpg (7339 bytes)

"Muskrat".....Hokey Wolf model.copied from a Ventures model (that I never owned).  Has a short Gibson neck and a Telecaster width bridge.  Its very small and light.  Has a telecaster bridge pickup and a strat neck pickup.  This is number 3 guitar and probably the last one I will build.....maybe

Del Halterman's "Pride & Joy"

Del_H.jpg (25078 bytes)

They are named Pride and Joy.   Since this shot was taken, I played the bass with Nokie, and he signed the pick guard on June 28, 1998.  The 6 string was new in '68 when I played rhythm in a dance band.  I got the bass second-hand in 1970 and have put a lot of miles on it since then. It has a fake Ventures logo, and the "ashtray" has been moved below the bridge.  Serial number for the Pearl White Ventures model is 2967 and the cherry red bass is # 7112.

Dave Isbell's Duo

This is a Gibson SG that I got in 1988.  Overall, I like it, although I find myself wishing that it had a whammy bar on it.  But I like the neck on it.  I couldn't play bar chords at all until I got it.

This is my most recent acquisition.  I got this Japanese Mosrite only a
month ago.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  It is absolutely beautiful.
I love the action on the whammy bar.  (Instead of "Vibramute" or "Mosely",
the whammy bar has the legend "Excellent".)  I thought the skinny neck would
bother me, but that hasn't been the case.  An absolutely wonderful
instrument.

The Bob Dowd Collection

Gretsch Chet Atkins Nashville Model from about 1968. Given to
me by a friend. I play it a lot at church.
Mexican made Fender Strat bought in '97 to replace stolen Les
Paul. Used on most of my UFPTV submissions.
1966 Fender Mustang given to me by my brother about 1970. I
replaced original pickups with Strat pickups. Used to play lead on Moon Child, Meet Mr Callahan, and Peace Pipe on UFPTV.
No-Name dreadnought acoustic I bought from Sears in 1983 because I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I did mods to bridge, replaced nut, and adjusted truss rod. It plays and sounds really good.
Dean Exotica RSE acoustic/electric I bought this year. After adjusting bridge and truss rod, it plays and sounds great. Good quality workmanship, but set up badly at the factory. Swedish made classical guitar I bought in 1974 for $10. I replaced broken tuning keys. It plays pretty well. I used it to play lead and
rhythm on La Paloma on my Vanity CD.
Kingston (??) violin-shaped electric bass. Bought in 1968 for about $70, just because I wanted a bass and it was cheap. I've used it as lot over the years, as it's light and has a pretty good action and tone. Fender Jazz bass I bought about two years ago, because I
wanted the real thing.
